The system operates starting from the compressor. With the compressor’s high pressure, the air inside the car, together with the refrigerant, is pressed to become an overly heated gas. When the refrigerant chills, it converts into a condensate which is a not so cooled high-pressure liquid. As the liquid flows through the drier, its impurities are being filtered and separated from pure liquid to gases. Then the liquid goes to the expansion valve, and into the evaporator (inside the car). The air now is cooled and is ready to be circulated. The cycle is repeated overtime until the desired temperature is achieved and maintained.
Though the road runners have convertible hoods, drop tops or removable fenders, these are not enough to beat the summer’s wild heat. Vintage cars may have antifreeze systems but these are generally for the car’s combusting engine and not for the auto’s air conditioning. And if the antifreeze is used to water-cool the car, it emits steam that gives a funny, odd sight in the middle of the road.
